Wisk recognizes the importance of involving stakeholders in developing consensus standards for new technology in aviation. We’re proud to work with various SDOs to develop these standards and support compliance in areas such as distributed electric propulsion, autonomous systems, and ground infrastructure. Together, we can ensure the safety and efficiency of eVTOL aircraft for the benefit of the flying public.
Wisk and NASA are teaming up to remove the barriers for safe multi-vehicle operations. Our Human Factors Lab is researching the interactions between humans and devices to equip operators to supervise multiple vehicles safely and efficiently. With multi-vehicle operations capability, Wisk can scale quickly and affordably once we enter the market. Collaborating with NASA will bring additional resources, experiences, and perspectives to the table and broaden the scope of questions we can answer. Our goal is to ensure the future safety of our autonomous aircraft and provide safe, everyday flight to everyone.
In early March David Oord, Wisk’s Policy Manager, participated in a showcase on Advanced Air Mobility – Aircraft and Technology, at the HAI HELI-EXPO 2023 in Atlanta, GA. As part of that showcase, Oord discussed Wisk’s vision to provide safe, everyday flight for everyone, along with the policy changes that will be needed to realize it — centered around the certification of autonomy and the safe integration of autonomous operations into today’s national airspace.
At Wisk, one of our strengths is our relationship with Boeing – which is both an investor and a strategic partner. Through this relationship, we are uniquely positioned to leverage the power of Boeing by tapping into their wealth of knowledge, experience, and expertise – including certification expertise – to accelerate our development and reduce program risk.
We are only a few years away from being able to climb into an FAA-certified self-flying eVTOL. Equally important to our technical development and certification process is our engagement with local governments and communities.

At Wisk, safety is at the core of everything we do. That’s why we’re proud to announce that we are the first AAM company to join the FAA’s voluntary Safety Management System (SMS) Voluntary Program. Learn more about our SMS and how we’re leading with safety.
The Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) industry is on a collective mission to transform the way we all move on a daily basis. Successfully completing this journey requires collaboration and partnership with multiple stakeholders – in particular, the governing bodies that regulate the vehicles, manufacturing, and future operations required for this industry.
Wisk is fortunate to have many employees who are Veterans of the armed forces, and who now use the skills learned in military life to excel in their work at Wisk.
A Changing Perspective “The current bar for accessibility standards in aviation is too low,” says Saurabh Nimsarkar, one of our Senior User Interface/User Experience (UI/UX) Designers, “we want to surpass industry standards and do better. We are working to make...
The future of aviation is inclusive, which is why Wisk is proactively building a work culture and an aircraft that embraces the full spectrum of human experience.
“It is important to let people know how complicated the sustainability process can be. This is not to dissuade them from pursuing sustainability, but to make sure they are properly prepared for what they may encounter. Regardless of the difficulty, it is essential that companies pursue sustainability as this is what is now expected in our industry.” – Daniela Schaff, Wisk Head of Sustainability
We recently caught up with Rishi Patel, who interned on our Systems Engineering and Integration team. Rishi is a rising senior studying aerospace engineering at Virginia Tech. Like us, he is passionate about AAM and sees it as an essential part of the future of transportation.
Our CEO, Gary Gysin, joins Anderson Cooper for a special 60 Minutes segment on eVTOL air taxis. During the segment, Gary confirms that our 6th generation aircraft will have 4 seats!
