The Future of Flight Starts in New Zealand

October 4, 2019

MOUNTAIN VIEW AND WELLINGTON, October 4, 2019

The dream of Wisk bringing everyday flight to everyone is one step closer today with an announcement by the New Zealand Government that it is establishing trials to support the safe testing and development of advanced unmanned aircraft to accelerate their integration into airspace.

The Integrated Airspace Trials build on the potential for innovation under New Zealand’s current Civil Aviation rules, and advances New Zealand’s vision for a thriving, innovative and safe aviation system.

Wisk is privileged to be named as the first industry partner in the trial.

Those following Wisk’s journey will recall that we have been testing and developing ‘Cora,’ our self-flying, electric, vertical take-off and landing aircraft in collaboration with the Government and people of New Zealand since 2017. New Zealand was selected as the place to bring Cora to market because it’s a country that values innovation, has a safety-focused regulatory environment and a strong history of excellence in airspace management. That history is being written right now with the announcement of this forward-looking programme.
